2020 DSTNOA Scholarship Application


S C H O L A R S H I P   G U I D E L I N E S


May 2020 graduates of high schools in Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard parishes are eligible to apply for the 2020 DSTNOA scholarships. Seven (7) scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend Delgado Community College, Dillard University, Loyola University of New Orleans, Southern University at New Orleans, Tulane University, University of New Orleans or Xavier University of Louisiana in Fall 2020.


The following completed documents must be uploaded with the 2020 DSTNOA Scholarship Application:


  • Two (2) letters of recommendation (example: counselor, teacher, administrator, etc.)

  • Official transcript of coursework completed, including the cumulative GPA

  • Copy of parent/guardian 2018 Form W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement)

  • Copy of  two most recent 2019 paycheck stubs with social security numbers removed.

Upon completion of an initial screening, selected applicants will be contacted for an in-person interview that will be conducted by mid-February 2020. Winners will be announced at the New Orleans Alumnae Artie Awards held in April 2020.

2020 Public Service Award

Nominations for the 2020 Public Service Award are now open! Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, January 22, 2020. 


Requirements for nominees are as follows: 


  • Exhibited leadership in the community

  • Not a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

  • Volunteered community services unselfishly without any anticipation of monetary or acknowledgeable recognition

  • Participated in civic affairs

  • Participated in religious affairs

  • Participated in community affairs in our city 

  • Promoted good relationship regardless of race, color, or creed in the greater New Orleans area  

  • Advocated harmonious relationship in community affairs

NOA HERstory Facts:

  • New Orleans Alumnae is the home of the first National President from the Southwest Region, Cynthia Butler-McIntyre, 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 

  • Sorors Butler-McIntyre and Lewis served together at the National level from 2008 to 2010, making New Orleans Alumnae the first chapter to have two National Executive Committee members at the same time!
